Message If that were the case then you would see it in pro racing. The only type of rear wheel steering I've seen is in ice racing which is rws to the extreme. HICAS, according to the sales brochure, was to make a big car easy to maneuver at slow speeds and more stable in lane changes at higher speeds. Nothing about making it faster around a track. It's there to compensate for inexperienced drivers.

The HICAS uses the steering wheel angle to determine the angle of the rear wheels. Say you're in a turn and have the steering wheel right at the point when the HICAS activates. Small adjustments here and there will kick the system on and off making the car seem loose. Its unpredictable at certain steering angles and unpredictability is not what a driver wants at speed around a track.
